Tigrero: A Film That Was Never Made

The image says it all: International Cinema darling and Hipster Godfather Jim Jarmusch, B-Movie iconoclast Sam Fuller, and an Amazon Native go for a walk… and Mika Kaurismäki (Aki’s older brother) captures it all on his camera. This is one of those rare films that is as good on screen as it is on paper- an ironic, yet sincere, post-modern harmonious cultural mish-mash of old and new which somehow manages to say something incredibly deep about the universality of being human by simply throwing a couple of oddball Americans into the Amazon Rainforest and seeing what happens. Sam’s brash American Pragmatism is the star here, taking us on a personal trip through his cinematic past… but equally important are the Amazonians who welcome him with open arms. File this one under “super fun documentary!”
